Freezing CodAdmin (Remote Server Admin Tool)
This is the official home of the Freezing CodAdmin Tool. A desktop based server administration tool that I wrote some years ago now. It is written in VB6 using Visual Studio 6 and is based around controlling Quake3 / Call of Duty type dedicated servers where the server accepts RCOn commands via a TCP port.
This originally came from being an admin of my own server and basically needing an easier way to remote admin the server without having to join the game. The tool also gives a lot of information back. The latest version was designed for a COD4 Dedicated Server.
Initially CoD didn't have a banning system for abusive players so this was added shortly after conception and is being developed as a stand-alone banning system. The program uses the normal 'server messages' sent to your game client to retrieve information from the server.
The RCON method is used for sending commands back to the server, and some direct server commands as used by the in-game server browsers or 3rd party apps. such as gamespy.
Further development includes trying to connect a standalone app to the game server attempting to imitate a game client, initially with the intent to create a real bot not limited by the games built in 'bot features'. Also to create an admin bot that can roam the level and take commands / requests etc.. This was very reliant on getting around the 'protection' in place to stop cheating, as your own bot/player inserted into a multiplayer game level could quite easily be used for nefarious purposes also. Not much time went into this, I got as far as adding a player to a Quake3 server, the next step was to interpret the commands coming back from the server and to start getting the bot to actually move around the level, maybe one day when I retire or win the lottery I can get back to projects like this..

The Latest Version: A standalone .exe that creates any required files on running: Cod4Admin Program (256kb zip)
Source Code: All of the project files to load this up in Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0: Cod4Admin Source (1,347kb zip)
Required: You will need the VB runtimes installed first to run the program: MS VB RunTimes
Disclaimer : This program was written a long time ago and was one of my first attempts at writing a serious app. Don't be emailing me about any lack of procedure or 'incorrect' programming techniques, as they will get binned :) Do email with any questions you may have, I will help as much as is possible if you decide to take this up and improve upon it. This latest version runs fine within the development area, I have just tested it. I do remember setting about upgrading it to C# Dot Net but it should not have affected this version of the original source.
